Welcome

 Hello Friends and Family!

We're excited for summer, mostly for the nice weather, but especially because we're getting married this August. The wedding will consist of a casual ceremony and party at Allison's childhood home in Bowie, MD (about an hour south of Baltimore). The entire event will be outdoors, so be sure to wear your favorite sundress and dancing (lawn-friendly) shoes.

Check out the blog archives or links below for all the pertinent details. Please send questions to kirkdibello@gmail.com. Looking forward to celebrating with you!

Fun things to do in Maryland

 Go For a Walk/Hike!
Greenbelt National Park: right across the street from the hotel is a local national park. It has small but lovely forested trails.

Buddy Attick Park: five minutes away is a park with a wonderful lakeside trail, basketball courts, and playgrounds.  In high school this was Allison's favorite place to run.

Billy Goat Trail at Great Falls: about a 45 minute drive away is a 4.7-mile hiking trail that follows a path between the C&O Canal and the Potomac River. The trail has three sections: Section A of the trail has the best views but traverses rough and rocky terrain, including scrambling over boulders. It is, in our opinion, the best day hike in the area

Go Get Cultured!
The Smithsonian: FREE museums are only a short 30 minute drive away in D.C. although we recommend you take the Metro as parking can be pain  There are also plenty of guided tours of important monuments and memorials. Just take the Greenbelt Metro, green line to L'Enfant Plaza, Maryland Avenue exit.

Baltimore, MD: Our home for the last 7 years; also a 30 minute drive. Home to the Aquarium, Science Center, Baltimore Museum of Art, and historic neighborhoods there is plenty to fill your day.

Annapolis, MD: 30 minutes away is our our state capitol and quaint downtown along the Chesapeake bay, great place to take in a little history, go boating or sailing, and eat some crabs

NASA Goddard Flight Space Center: five minutes from the hotel is the free, kid friendly small space museum

Go Relax on the Water!
Southern Maryland's Eastern Shore: a little over an hour drive away are several small boardwalks and beaches. Don't expect to swim but great to beachcomb for shark teeth,  go boating, fishing, or otherwise explore the beauty of the bay without beach traffic.
Solomon's Island
Calvert Cliffs State Park
Flag Ponds Nature Park
Sandy Point State Park: within an hours drive is a large sandy swimming beach that overlooks the Chesapeake Bay Bridge. It's bay water so expect it to be a little murky.

The Atlantic Ocean: for a full get away, the ocean is about a three hour drive. Popular is Ocean City, Dewy Beach and Rehoboth Beach. Or take in the wild horses at Assateague Islands. To stay overnight make reservations WELL in advance.

Go Explore Your Inner Child!
Six Flags America: Only 20 minutes from the hotel, also boasts a water park. Let us know if you're interested in advance so we can get discounted tickets for $37.

Watkins Regional Park: for more tame fun check out this park by Allison's parents house which has a mini golf, antique carousel and train, petting zoo, nature center and multiple playgrounds.
